Malai Kofta Curry Recipe / Malai Kofta Curry / Malai Kofta Gravy

Malai Kofta Curry Recipe is a delicious north Indian specialty dish. The boiled potato, paneer and bread mixture is made into koftas and serve with onion-tomato based curry. It is very delicious and cream rich gravy. You can serve with roti or naan or lachha paratha.

Ingredients:

For Gravy:—- –

  • Onion Paste – 3 nos.
  • Garlic-Ginger Paste – 2 tbsp
  • Finely Chopped Tomato – 3 medium
  • Green Chili (slit lengthwise) – 2 nos.
  • Turmeric Powder – 1/2 tbsp
  • Red Chili Powder – 1/2 tbsp
  • Salt as per taste –
  • Cream – 1/4 cup
  • Finely Chopped Coriander Leaves (for garnish) – 1 tbsp

For Kofta:—- –

  • Big Potato (boiled and mash) – 2 nos.
  • White Bread (trim the edges and cut into small cubes) – 3-4 nos.
  • Paneer (mashed) – 1 cup
  • Sauf – 1/4 tbsp
  • Finely Chopped Green Chili – 2 nos.
  • Salt as per taste –

Instructions:

  • For making koftas:— In a bowl, add potato, paneer, garam masala, sauf, green chilies and salt, mix well.
  • Dip bread slices in milk or water, squeeze out excess liquid and crumble the bread.
  • Add crumble bread into a bowl and mix well, make koftas into lime-sized balls.
  • Heat the oil in a pan on medium flame for deep frying, slide the kofta.
  • Fry it till turns little golden brown on both sides and keep aside.
  • It is important to fry the koftas as soon as they are formed otherwise they will get soggy and break when fried and If you mixture is too wet, add some plain flour to bind it.
  • For making gravy:—- Heat the oil in a pan on medium flame, add ginger-garlic paste, green chili and onion.
  • Fry it till onion turns little golden brown.
  • Add the turmeric powder, chili powder, garam masala, salt and tomato.
  • Cook it till tomato gets soft and keep aside.
  • When you are ready to serve, bring the gravy back to a boil on medium heat (add some water if too thick).
  • Add the cream and koftas into the gravy and simmer till koftas are heated through.
  • Garnish with coriander leaves.
  • Serve hot malai kofta curry with rice or roti.
