Panchratna dal recipe is a specialty of Rajasthan cuisine. Panchratna Dal is healthy and tasty dal recipe, can be prepared for parties and special occasions. It is a protein rich dish as it contains the goodness of 5 different dal-lentils. You can enjoy with both rice and rotis. Panchratna dal is a nice mixture of toovar, urad, moong, chana and moath Dal. The dal mixture is cook in pressure cooker, cook it till the dal gets soft. Fried with butter, asafetida, cumin seed, dry red chili, onion, tomato, red chili powder and garam masala, garnish with coriander leaves.

Ingredients:

  • Channa Dal – 2 tbsp
  • Moong Dal – 2 tbsp
  • Arhar Dal – 2 tbsp
  • Urad Dal – 2 tbsp
  • Moath Dal – 2 tbsp
  • Whole Red Chilies – 2 nos.
  • Turmeric Powder – 1/2 tbsp
  • Red Chili Powder – 1/2 tbsp
  • Asafetida – 2 Pinch
  • Cumin Seed – 1 tbsp
  • Chopped Onion – 2 medium
  • Chopped Tomato – 2 large
  • Tomato Puree – 2 tbsp
  • Chopped Coriander Leaves – 2-3 tbsp
  • Garam Masala – 1 tbsp
  • Butter – 2 tbsp
  • Salt as per taste –
  • Ginger Paste – 1 tbsp

Instructions:

  • Clean and wash the dals.
  • Cook dal in a pressure cooker, with turmeric powder, ginger paste and salt.
  • Cook on medium flame till dal becomes soft and consistent.
  • Heat the butter in a pan on medium flame, add asafetida, cumin seed and dry red chili, fry for 2-3 min.
  • Add onions and fry it till onion turns little golden brown.
  • Add tomato, red chili powder and tomato puree, cook for 3-4 min.
  • Add boiled dal and garam masala, mix well.
  • Cook for 10-11 min.
  • Garnish with coriander leaves.
  • Serve hot panchmel dal with chapatti or rice.
